NEPA PULSE is building a movement across 18 counties in Northeast Pennsylvania to strengthen local communities, empower young leaders, and spark bold new ideas. From block parties to youth councils, entrepreneurship workshops to holiday celebrations, we’re weaving together the creativity, energy, and resilience of our region.

And we need you to help guide the pulse forward.

Why Serve as a Board Member?

Board members are the backbone of NEPA PULSE. As part of our founding leadership team, you’ll:

  • Shape the vision – Help steer our programs and initiatives as we grow.

  • Champion local voices – Ensure our work reflects the needs of our diverse region.

  • Open doors – Connect us with partners, funders, and opportunities.

  • Build sustainability – Guide organizational growth, governance, and financial health.

  • Inspire change – Empower youth and communities to reimagine what’s possible.

What do we look for in board members?

We welcome leaders from all backgrounds who believe in the power of collaboration and community action. In particular, we’re seeking individuals with experience or passion in:

  • Nonprofit leadership and governance

  • Fundraising, sponsorships, and philanthropy

  • Youth development and education

  • Economic and community development

  • Arts, culture, and tourism

  • Marketing, communications, and advocacy

  • Finance, law, or organizational management

Most importantly: a commitment to showing up, engaging with creativity, and championing local communities.

Expectations

  • Attend quarterly board meetings (in person or virtually).

  • Actively participate in at least one committee or initiative.

  • Serve as an ambassador for NEPA PULSE in your networks.

  • Support fundraising by making a personally meaningful gift and/or helping secure outside support.

  • Commit to a three-year term, renewable.
